The present study discusses the role of DNA in crime investigation and its pros and cons. Crime has been changing and diversifiying day by day and legislation was felt when crime started threatening the very existence of the human society. Due to the impact of scientific and technological revolution on different aspects of our social and cultural activities, we may of ten find a shiftfrom our age-old traditional ideas and various new technologies can be used as an effective tool in crime detection to accelerate crime controlfor a better society. DNA is very long molecule and is found in the nucleus of cells. Each person's DNA is unique except twins but the technique for identification of DNA throughout their body in every cell with a nucleus. DNA plays a vital role in identifying the crime as a whole it is determine whether evidentiary biological substances found at the crime scene could or could not have come from the suspect, victim or both. DNA profiling can be a powerful tool in criminal investigation. DNA testing is one of the means to achieve the main goal, i.e., ‘truth’ and it is not an end in itself. However, we have to modify our administration of justice system remaining in the existing framework to the effect that we can effectively utilize the benefit of modern scientific and technological advancement.
