Abstract

Thai Song Dam ethnic group respect “Ghosts” and believe in “Khwan” whereby everything in the world is controlled by spirits and supernatural powers. Their lifestyle and traditions are closely related to ghosts (i.e. the spirits that may protect or care for individual and bring him about bad events). Thai Song's worldview is divided into good and bad. The ghost spirits determine the prosperity and fortune of individuals and families. Ancestor spirits known as “Pheehean” are believed to dictate rewards for good and punishment for bad. Thai Song Dam believe that their ancestor live in another world similar to this world.
