Asstt. Professor, Co ordinator-Centre of Excellence,
The present paper discuss the recent concept of multiculturalism and its values. Multiculturalism, as the new paradigm for society and education for the 21st century, is a political ping-pong term greatly misused and highly misunderstood. Since for many it is also a value-laddered concept, it has come under fire from diverse segments of the population, who due to their social position view the world differently. The fact that where we stand determines what we see is a reality in most situations, and it is especially true for the concept of multiculturalism. The paper provides an operational definition of multiculturalism and its value for all groups as a basis for understanding the changes coming to our society.
