Abstract

The current study deals with traditional method of child birth in Karens’. It also revails the dependency of tradition medicine used by Karen community Even though they have modern Doctors and governmental amenities in their area. A child is considered very important in karens’ family. During gestation period there are some rituals and believes to be followed which are totally based on Certain taboos. In Karen community there is a male who performed all the work of midwife, called as "LETHEH" in the community. Karens believes that during child birth his presence is compulsory. Otherwise the child will die.
