Abstract

In this paper an attempt has been made to understand the concept of Indian society and Indian culture in sociological sense and philosophical sense. Society is a system of established pattern of relationship between the various groups, castes, communities and culture. Social structure is a system of institutionalized activities and it is a system of idea and value in the Hegelian sense of the term, but in the contemporary era socials structure can be also defined in terms of mode of social formation and Indian tradition can be understood in terms of holism, hierarchies, transcendence, religion and philosophy of man.
