When women are economically and socially empowered they become a change agent. In rural areas women is the nucleus of family and play an important role not only in running day to day household activities but in other areas too. Despite many efforts made by the government, the inequalities still exist in the areas of education, health, sharing ofproperty, employment, control over resources and more which requires utmost attention ofone and all. But in this regard SHGs has proved as an important source in making women self-sufficient and self dependent in every sphere of life i.e. women are becoming empowered through programmes related to SHGs.
