Abstract

Traditions and cultural practices are indispensable among the Social Science faculty in the Higher Education Institutions found in Isabela along the wide range of human activities such as pregnancy, birth, baptism, courtship, marriage, death and burial, and other traditions and cultural practices. It is inevitable that life indeed of a Filipino involves all sorts of traditions and cultural practices from the time he is conceived and up to the time he dies and is buried (Advincula, 1998). The study generally aimed to determine the traditions and cultural practices of Social Science faculty in the secondary and tertiary school levels of the City of Cauayan, Isabela. It also determined the profile of the Social Science faculty, the sources of the traditions and cultural practices, and the relationship between profile and their traditions and cultural practices. Based on the findings of the research, the Social Science teachers observed traditions and cultural practices along conception, birth, baptism, courtship, marriage, death and burial, and other traditions and other traditions and cultural practices. Most of respondents ’traditions and cultural practices come from their grandparents, parents and neighbors. The observance of traditions and cultural practices of Social Science teachers is not significantly related with their profile.
