Abstract

Woman plays a very significant role in every society and contributes immensely in making the progress of human civilization. Starting from the day to day household chores to the macro level policy making domain, women have been contributing to their best. In this present endeavour an attempt has been made to trace and highlight the role of women in diverse spheres among the Dibangiya Deoris of Assam. A Deori woman plays an active part in every domain of social, economic, cultural and religious fields. They have been occupying a key role in maintenance of the family and in running them. However when it comes to decision making the women has a marginal role. But with the changing time due to the influence of science and technology, modernisation etc., changes has been noticed in their roles.
