Toda Ethno-medicine: some observations

The study delineates the use of various wild grown vegetations as ethnomedicines among the Todas (PTG/PVTG) of the Nilgiri hills in Udhagmandalam area of district of the Nilgiri in the state of Tamilnadu. The study is the outcome of anthropological fieldwork which was undertaken in four Toda Munds in the years 2016 and 2017. The Todas believe that due their weak economic status when they fail to access modern health delivery systems, they resort to empirical aspects of healing and apply ethnomedicines available in the dense forests of the Nilgiris to overcome their ailments
