Mortality checks unlimited growth of a population and regulates the distribution of individuals in different age groups. It is governed by various factors i.e. hygiene, environmental factors, availability of medical facilities, awareness, education. In the present study a data on 900 households of Todapur-dasghara were collected. Themain focus of the interview was on married women in the reproductive age group of 15 to 55 years and their children. The data was collected through interviews and observations. Data on mortality, vital events, family planning etc was collected. The results revealed that, the crude death rate is 6.56 per 1000 population; infant mortality rate is 26.6 per 1000 live births. Cause specific death rate also contributes significantly to overall mortality. Fever due to Pneumonia, T.B., Dengue contribute significantly to cause specific death rate. This indicates poor hygiene and illiteracy among women contribute to the cause of mortality.
