Role of Educational Technology in Teaching and Learning processes

Educational technology is a systematic process of applying modern technology to improve the quality of Education. It involves execution and evaluation of the learning and teaching process in an organized way and helps with the application of modern educational teaching techniques. Educational technology encompasses methods like E-learning, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Multimedialearning, Online Education, Digital Educational Collaboration, Cyber-learning, Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) etc. Educational Technology has become a revolutionizing factor in upgrading the Modern Education system. Until recently, the conventional roles of teachers was of being the sole interpreter and the textbooks being the sole source of transferring knowledge to the learner; but today, teachers have a range of media to supplement their instructional work which helps them reduce their work load and increase efficiency simultaneously. With its expanding scope, it is important to analyze its growing significance and take a glance at further advancement this technology will bring.
