Abstract

As all NGOs dealing with medical/humanitarian crises, Medecins Sans Frontieres has had to adapt its strategies and methods to a rapidly changing environmental and political situation. MSF is hampered by the growing suspicion with which many warring parties view foreign aid and humanitarian interventions and the increasing antagonism between Western powers and radical Islamist organisations. Rising conflicts in middle income countries and new epidemic diseases also pose major novel challenges.
