A grassroots movement is rapidly gathering strength in the USA to address the highly discriminatory and alarming healthcare situation in the country. While the costs of insurance, medicines and medical treatment have sharply risen in recent years, no adequate steps have been taken to protect the health of at least one-third of the population. The US private insurance system is in fact designed to keep sick people out unless they have sufficient financial resources.
