Abstract

The ongoing global economic and financial crisis, which erupted in 2008, is demonstrating once again the illusory and dangerous character of improperly regulated speculative liberalism, reliant on faith in the virtual creation of wealth through financial instruments regarded as commodities. The longstanding call for a new world economic order based on a sound “Aristotelian” monetary philosophy, has taken on a new urgency in the context of the expanding financial meltdown and international socio-political chaos.
