Abstract

The current economic crisis in Nigeria is partly the result of intense pressure from major world powers. The main focus has been Nigeria's democracy and the attendant significance of its oil in the world market. This paper discusses the nature of the global economic crisis and its manifestation in Nigeria, the interventions applied by Western powers on the government, especially relating to critical economic and political issues and the implications for the future of the country.
