Japan, as a nation at the edge of the Asian continent and the Pacific Ocean, is inevitably involved in the dynamics of the region's geopolitics. While the notions of evolution are complex, this paper focuses on certain aspects of the future of Japan and East Asia. The first part examines the development of China and the consequences. The second section discusses how the transfer of next-generation technology such as electric engines, the bullet train system and marine biotechnology will affect the world. To conclude, the article explores how Japan and its neighbours will remain global economic powers, probably mitigating conflicts in the region and also attempts to forecast how this region will evolve and affect the rest of the world.
