Digital technology now permeates the world. The light of digital knowledge drowns our physical reality in a sea of bits and bytes that give us a deeper and very different understanding of the universe and our place in it. When John Craig Venter and his team created a new form of life from a digital blueprint, they ushered in a revolution that we have not fully comprehended as yet. Digital has become the new natural but in order to master its potential correctly, we must become truly human, that is, learn to control our primitive, counterproductive instincts, which keep most of us in thrall to war and poverty. Instead we must recognise that our brains create our reality as a roadmap to the physical world and accordingly design the best possible future for our species and planet.
