The Darfur crisis in Sudan had a major impact on Africa and its spillover effects across the continent led to arms proliferation, the breeding of rebels and terrorists and insecurity. The African Union could not effectively contain the violence in the region due to a lack of funds, inadequate communication tools and logistical support, etc, while the Western world remained uninvolved. There are few scholarly analyses of the implications of these circumstances on Africa's stability. This paper examines the nature of conflict on the continent, especially in Darfur and its impact on African international relations.
