This article analyses the current Brazilian political scenario in the context of the country's historic economic and social transformation. It focuses on the political behaviour of the Right, its “new ideas” for Brazil, regarding the country's insertion into the international capitalist system and its stance vis-à-vis the Leftward shift in Latin America's continental alliances.
