This paper examines the World Bank's responses to the allegations of human rights violations committed in the implementation of some of the projects it funds. It explains and analyses some of the cases that have come before its Inspection Panel from different parts of the world. The panel was established after a long struggle from both inside and outside the bank. This paper focuses on the context of the panel's origins, evaluates the issues of human rights by looking at the common problems and complaints in the cases filed before it, the panel's responses and finally makes certain conclusions and recommendations.
