Abstract

An Atlantic Council report regards Russia as the supreme aggressor state, intent on undermining the security of Europe, even attacking it—an “existential threat” that must be repelled. This article compares the ongoing military preparations by NATO in Europe to Germany's Operation Barbarossa to invade and submit the Soviet Union during the Second World War. The Western military-industrial complex is contemplating the prospect of a possible nuclear conflict with Russia to eliminate the challenge to its dominance and there are indications that covert, hybrid warfare provocations in the Baltic region might be used to trigger confrontation.
