This presentation lays out a Global Environment Restoration Project for regrowing 15 per cent of the Earth's original biomass to absorb the carbon produced by industrial activity. Human disruption of ecological balances has resulted in a reduction of the living biomass of the planet estimated at 50 per cent at least. It is proposed to grow the lost biomass in the oceans while switching to organic agriculture and reforesting the land on a massive scale. Decarbonising the economy is a priority if we want to avoid an imminent climate catastrophe and this could also unleash a new era of growth built around a global conversion to sustainable, Earth-restoring technologies and practices to manage the seas and lands.
