Abstract

Since India's independence, every head of government has placed the neighbourhood as a top priority in its foreign policy. Nevertheless, in this endeavour, Pakistan has been a difficult “nut to crack” and this remains the case for Prime Minster Narendra Modi. In this regard, this paper examines three years of the Modi government's policy towards Pakistan and its implications for the relationship. Subsequently it suggests possible measures for the administration to adopt for strengthening bilateral ties and ensuring peace in the South Asian region.
