Human Mobility is a complex phenomenon and a fundamental component of structural transformation in developing countries. Migration patterns differ considerably across regions and countries, and flows have changed course over time. Researchers and policy experts have paid more attention to the determinants of migration and less attention to its interrelationship with the environment. The present study of Benin and Nigeria uses a longer timeframe spanningfrom 19992017 and musters classical migration theory as a framework of analysis. The author concludes that human mobility does not cause harm to the environment, and therefore, recommends that the Nigerian and Benin government and experts should formulate policies that will improve the state of the environment for human activities.
