Erdogan’s Turkey: No Longer a Partner of the West

Turkey has been transformed under the twenty-year-old rule of President Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party. This article depicts the gradual break up between the western alliance and Turkey which has moved closer to Russia, Iran, the Arab States and some Turkish-speaking countries of Central Asia. Under the increasingly dictatorial rule of Erdogan his regime has crushed effective opposition and dismissed and jailed many thousand of officials, academics and executives without regard for the Constitution and laws of the State.
