The current situation in the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia demands immediate international mediation. That requires new security architecture to restrain NATO’s eastward expansion while considering Moscow’s security concerns. The war has now become particularly dangerous as Russia implicitly threatens the Western powers to exercise its nuclear option if they continue providing military support to Kyiv. In the present grim scenario with, no end to the continuing war in sight, the world stands on a nuclear volcano which may erupt any day. The provision of the Collective Security System as the Uniting for Peace Resolution (UPR) under the United Nations and international platforms like the Non-aligned Movement under India’s initiative can prove to be meaningful and decisive for stopping this brutal conflict.
