Abstract

The Indo-Pacific region has become the epicentre of world politics in the twenty-first century. The ongoing struggle for power between the USA and China has made the region of the Indo-Pacific very important. When we talk about the Indo-Pacific region from the Indian perspective, the ASEAN region is vital considering its geographical and cultural links with India. Considering the relevance of ASEAN, it is imperative for India to form deep-rooted relationships with ASEAN member countries. This paper argues for space diplomacy by India in this region to further cement its strategic interests. There are three Asian space powers, China, Japan and India. China and Japan have institutionalised their space diplomacy, whereas India has to do a lot in this regard. The author suggests that India gift a satellite to ASEAN countries as a strategic gesture of good will.
