The article contains a reflection on the ongoing global transformation and on India’s evolving role in the international system. The author argues that India should derive inspiration for its foreign policy from its ancient philosophy which is broader than Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent approach. The concept of non-violence is not always viable in the context of the human condition, as history and contemporary events demonstrate time and again.
