Abstract

This study explores the online presence of faculty at the Dr B. R. Ambedkar Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital (Dr BRAIRCH), focusing on their Google Scholar profiles during their tenure at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. On 13 October 2024, a comprehensive manual search was conducted on Google Scholar, using precise faculty names and institutional affiliations. Results indicate that 71.7% of Dr BRAIRCH’s faculty actively maintain Google Scholar profiles. Notably, Dr Sameer Bakhshi, a leading figure in medical oncology, holds a distinguished record with 1,043 publications, 8,827 citations, an h-index of 46, and an i10-index of 236. This study highlights Google Scholar profiles as valuable tools for assessing individual and institutional research contributions. Combining research outputs into one platform improves visibility and accessibility. Faculty are encouraged to leverage their profiles to highlight key areas of expertise, increasing their visibility and fostering potential domestic and international collaborations. The findings will assist AIIMS in shaping policies that effectively integrate research visibility into faculty promotions, awards, and rewards criteria. This strategy is anticipated to boost research competitiveness among the various departments and institutes at AIIMS, fostering a culture of academic excellence.
