The concept of overall economy with increased reliability in industrial growth has brought an added emphasis on standardization all over the world. It has been accepted as the most effective tool for promotion of industrial development because of the several benefits that accrue in adopting standardization. Overall cost reduction being one of the objectives, standardization helps in achieving reductions, rationalization, import substitution, and above all, energy conservation.
