A good quality electronics ballast is such a good device that US Department of Energy has announced a programme in USA under which almost all of magnetic ballasts for the commercial and industrial markets will be phased out by year 2005. Similar programmes are likely to be carried out in Europe. Also in our own country, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under Ministry of Power is likely to follow a market driven approach by star labelling of energy efficient electrical products, keeping the development in our mind. Manufacturers have established a state of art lamp and electronics ballast testing facility which can be comparable with the best in world.
