Abstract

Advanced possibilities and reserves to improve economy and reliability of a hydro plant can be achieved by the integration of intelligent additional functions into the plant control system. The VSHyCon plant optimization module is discussed as an example for a module that offers significant improvement of plant performance with relatively low additional effort due to the combination of control system function and additional process know-how. Considerable efficiency benefits can be achieved by online calculation of optimized machine configuration and load partitioning. Based on the VSHyCon vibration diagnosis module another kind of supplementary module of the control system is presented.
