Abstract

Transmission line tower is generally a lattice type steel structure. It consists of a number of steel angles of different L/R Ratio. These are connected together by nuts and bolts. The strength of the tower depends on the strength of these tower members. The strength of the tower member depends on L/R ratio and its stiffness. Stiffer the member, more the load is can bear. Angle between two members should not be less that 15O. Stiffness of the member is affected if it deforms. Following are the reasons of deformation of tower members.
