An attempt is made to prepare preliminary geomorphological maps of 55 dams of Saurashtra and Kachchh region with the help of remote sensing techniques and survey of India toposheet after the killer earthquake of January 2001. The devastating earth quake, which is also known as Bhuj earthquake has damaged a number of dams of Saurashtra and Kachchh. The first hand information regarding these structures needed to be furnished to the field officers prior to their detailed investigation. Hence the geomorphological maps were prepared.
