Abstract

Information about off-shore forms interesting parameters in transfer of energy, propagating in different directions. Recent studies have shown distribution of wave energy as a function of frequency, for which, there is need to establish generalised shapes in drawing wave energy applicable to India Coastal waters, characterised by different depths and fore shore slopes. Using the power of sea waves is experienced since ages, through Ram Air Generator, Oscillating Water Column and other similar means. The electricity generator, now presented, has a float converting wave energy, into stored energy, through a driven gear wheel unit. This energy is used to charge a double coil – wound spring drum. Demonstration installation of a sea wave generator is discussed, with the coil spring as its prime mover in this paper. The sea wave generator is highly reliable and operates round the clock, with good efficiency and economy, and deserves encouragement, to ensure uninterrupted, reliable and cheap electric power to isolated sea shore colonies. Also, 10 minutes duration audio video details of prototype model of sea wave generator developed by the author and successfully operated on Bay of Bengal Coast, near Chirala (A.P.) is presented.
