In this paper, the authors have proposed a business model for the commercial operation of a pumped storage scheme (PSS) in the Indian Power system. The existing business model of purchasing and selling the power at different rates is unsatisfactory due to reluctance of market in accepting the higher cost of power from PSS. The example of a typical PSS is considered for illustration.
