Abstract

With silt abrasion being one of the principal causes of rapid turbine degradation, the role of desanding systems is critical in providing appropriate protection. This paper describes a desanding system which has been designed to use only a minimum quantity of water for the flushing process, to avoid an adverse effect on energy production during seasons when only limited water is available. Some examples of recent applications are given.
