Taking the construction of the DOT shield tunnel in the shanghai Rail Transit Project as a case study, the sophisticated techniques and knowledge applied to soft soil DOT shield tunnelling are summarized, creating a firm foundation for the broad application of DOT shield tunnelling technology in the future.
