Abstract

Jharkhand is a storehouse of various metallic, nonmetallic, and fuel, atomic and minor minerals. More than 37% of the total minerals of India are available in Jharkhand. With the adoption of the new industrial policy by Government of India to enable rapid industrial growth has resulted into a host of structural reforms which are in a place to encourage private participation including mining. After creation of Jharkhand, there has been a new enthusiasm among the prospective investors in the field of mineral and mineral based industries. Government of Jharkhand has received about 20 investment proposals covering mines and minerals. Of the total proposals received, MoUs have been signed for five steel projects and one alumina refining project and two power projects. Definitely new Jharkhand mineral policy will boost up the ongoing liberalizations process of the project if the rich mineral asset are properly exploited and utilized, the mining sector will contribute significantly to promote mineral based industry like steel, refractory, cement etc. and this it will help to boost the economic growth of the state.
