Standard methods of testing of three phase induction motors, involve a three phase induction motor coupled to a DC generator through pulley-belt coupling or direct coupling. But it has been observed that if the chance of availability of DC generator of suitable rating does not exist then alternative arrangement for the load test has to be performed. The present article proposes an alternative method involving an induction motor coupled to another induction motor. Basically this alternative method suits the requirement of a motor manufacturing industry.
