Soil Conditioning for Electrical Earthing

Every electrical installation/equipment is provided with a good earth connection for safe and proper operation. An earth connection means a system of electrical connections to the general mass of earth. The characteristic primarily determining the effectiveness of an earth electrode is the resistance, which it provides between the earthing system and the general mass of earth. Therefore, the mass of the earth i.e. the soil around the electrode must have low resistance so that the electrode current is dissipated instantaneously to the ground.
