Automated Testing of Communication Protocol Implementation in Substation IEDs – A Development Perspective

This paper describes the automated testing of communication protocol implementation in substation protection, monitoring and control IEDs. The test process adopted will be of relevance during the development and unit testing phases, before the integration and system testing phase. This approach plays an important role in reducing overall product development cycle, improving reliability and quality of the product delivered to the customer.
