With the increase in interconnected high voltage system, the fault current in the system has increased considerably. In sub stations where the area is small, it has become difficult to design a safe grounding system.
The design of grounding system though being a science is an art also. Some practical aspects of art and science of grounding system design are discussed in this paper. These are the out come of experience gained by the author during design of grounding systems of HPSES.
