Design of Earthing/Grid for Sub-Stations having high Resistivity-Case Study for Sub-Station in Getco

Any system is supposed to be most reliable as well as safe in operation. Power system can not be exception for this. Good earthing system is one such major issue that ensures safety of personnel and equipment simultaneously improves reliability and quality of power as well. The paper describes earthing system practices adopted in Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd. (GETCO). It mainly follows Standard IEEE 80-2000 together with additions/suggestion proposed by papers published by authentic organization like CBI&P. The paper presents a case study involving a high resistivity soil of a 66kV Sub-Station.
