Earthing is one of the most important design aspects for any substation as it is directly related with safety of humans and switchgear installation. Safe earthing design is highly dependent on the soil parameter which is generally dominated by natural terrain. Safe earthing solutions are often a challenging task for substations having voltage levels 132kV, 33kV, 11 kV because of smaller switchyard area. This paper illustrates the problem faced & solutions worked out for achieving safe earthing solution for on~ of the 132/33kV air insulated substation in western region of our country.
