The invention that changed our life style significantly is without doubt the automobile. But what was once the symbol of freedom, mobility and prosperity, now seems to have become synonymous with traffic hazards congestion (traffic jams), exhaustion of our natural resources, air pollution; and the warming up of our atmosphere.
Nevertheless, despite the increase in traffic density, road safety still continue: to increase. First because of the car itself which has undergone enormous technological improvements and second because of the extensive measures that are constantly being undertaken by the authorities in the area of traffic management and road infrastructure. In this field, lighting systems have long played an important role with respect to providing good seeing comfort, guidance and signaling to road users.
