Abstract

Construction of transformers is a matured technology and generally transformers are very efficient. There is a very little scope for improving the efficiency of transformers with conventional technology and materials. In this article the losses occurring in the transformers and some construction practices, which makes it energy efficient are discussed. It is well known that amorphous core is more efficient than CRGO core. The properties of both and the losses of typical amorphous core transformers as measured at CPRI are also provided. Some emerging technologies in energy efficient transformers like super conducting transformer is also discussed in this paper.

According to research specialist, Ralf Hartings. the first testing forth these Bushings was performed in Ludvika in 2006 and involved electric field measurements conducted on 500 kV DC units. These initials tests revealed. The existence of an interesting Phenomenon namely charge build-up and decay such that electric field across the bushing varies over time.
