A local ground water study on the banks and bed of River Wainganga, in the vicinity of Bhandara bridge, has been made to assess the yield expected from a proposed infiltration gallery, which is to augment the expected yield from the dry weather surface water supply of the river. From a study of the local geology, the transmission characteristics and depths of water bearing media, obtained from geophysical soundings, pumping tests and regional ground water study, it ivas observed that the expected maximum yield of 10 cusecs from- 1,000 ft. of the infiltration gallery, is much below the requirement, in order to adequately supplement the surface flow in short supply periods of April anil May.
