Abstract

The test procedures for the determination of thermal properties of concrete, such as, conductivity, diffusivity and specific heat adopted in the concrete and Soil Mechanics Laboratory, Madras, are explained in detail. The effect- of different percentages of air entrainment in Concrete brought about by the admixture of the solid Rihand Air Entraining Agent on thermal diffusivity, specific heat and thermal conductivity of concrete with maximum sizes of aggregate 1 1/2” (38.1 mm) and 3/4” (19.05mm) and water cement ratios 0.5 and 0.70 and for a slump of 3” (76.2 mm) has been studied and discussed.
