The calculations for the radial deflection of arches are encountered in the analysis of arch dams frequently. This procedure is rather lengthy when the foundations are deformable. In this paper a dimensionless parameter is established to indicate the crown deflections of circular arches on elastic foundations, when the arch carries a uniformly distributed radial load. Charts are presented which would enable the determination of these crown deflections with very little effort.
